How to Fix CD/DVD Problem

Registry Editor Steps to Fix Bad ODD/CD/DVD-ROM

This is a bit complicated so we have to be very careful in doing so. The main goal that we have is to delete the Upper and Lower Filters on your registry, and that's what makes it complicated. This is applicable to issues regarding an ODD/CD/DVD-ROM that does not play or burn cd’s or dvd’s.

To start with
>Click on START

WinVista/Win7 START BUTTON

WinXP Start Button

>Click on RUN for WinXP and on the RUN BOX type REGEDIT as shown below

RUN BOX

>Type REGEDIT on the Search Bar on START Menu for WinVista / Win7

Start Search Bar

>Double Click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

>Double Click System

>Double Click CurrentControlSet

>Double Click Control

>Double Click Class

>Click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
***the Upper/Lower Filters MAY or MAY NOT be there together sometimes only the Upper Filters is there sometimes it’s the Lower Filters that’s only there, sometimes both of them are there, sometimes none of them are there. If none of both is present, you then need to reseat your ODD/CD/DVD-ROM.

>Look for the Upper Filters / right click on it / click on Delete
>Look for the Lower Filters / right click on it / click on Delete

>Restart computer
!!!A Restart is always required everytime you make changes to your computer's registry.
>Try your CD / DVD ROM
